چکیده
Materials and Methods: Electronic medical records of 282 patients (467 breasts) undergoing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction at our institution from 2010–2012 were reviewed to collect clinical and post-operative data. Charts were analysed to determine the association between the absolute number of axillary lymph nodes removed and post reconstructive incidence of skin necrosis, cellulitis, seroma, and expander removal. Independent sample t test and linear regression were used to analyze data. results: The overall incidence of all post-operative complications per breast was 23.8%. Breasts in which a complication occurred had a mean of 6 nodes removed versus 4 nodes in uncomplicated breasts (p=0.018). More complications were noted in patients who underwent axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) compared to sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB; p=0.008). Expander removal and seroma occurred more frequently in breasts which had a greater number of nodes removed (p=0.006 and p=0.015, respectively).

Superficial Burn Wound Healing with Intermittent Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Under Limited Access and Conventional Dressings
BACKGROUND Thermal injury is associated with several biochemical and histopathological alteration in tissue. Analysis of these objective parameters in research and clinical field are common to determine healing rate of burn wound. Negative pressure wound therapy has been achieved wide success in treating chronic wounds. This study determines superficial burn wound healing with intermittent n...
متن کاملNegative pressure wound therapy combined with skin grafting improves surgical wound healing in the perianal area
Management of large tissue defects resulting from local wide resection of perianal is a clinical challenge for surgeons. The aim of the present study was to investigate the efficacy of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) following skin grafting on perianal surgical wound healing.Included in this study were 12 patients with perianal tumors who received skin grafting after perianal tumor resec...
متن کاملEvaluation of vacuum-assisted closure in patients with wound complications following tumour surgery.
Covering the reconstructed area with a healthy soft-tissue envelope is a major challenge after limb-sparing surgery in patients with malignant bone and soft-tissue tumours. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) of open wounds hastens healing and minimises the requirement for complex reconstructive soft-tissue surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness and safety of NPW...
متن کاملComparison of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Utilizing Vacuum-Assisted Closure to Advanced Moist Wound Therapy in the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers– A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial
Objective: To evaluate safety and clinical efficacy of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) compared to Advanced Moist Wound Therapy (AMWT) to treat diabetic patients with foot ulcers. Research Design And Methods: This multicenter randomized controlled trial enrolled 342 patients mean age 58 years; 79% male. Complete ulcer closure was defined as skin closure (100% re-epithelization) without d...
متن کاملComparisons of negative pressure wound therapy and ultrasonic debridement for diabetic foot ulcers: a network meta-analysis.
OBJECTIVE a network meta-analysis was performed to compare the strength and weakness of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with ultrasound debridement (UD) as for diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). METHODS PubMed, Ovid EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane library databases, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database were searched till February 2015. Clinical compared studies of negative pressure wou...
